FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will playing basketball look like with the Aviators Basketball Club? Our goal is to help our athletes develop their basketball skills year round and play meaningful games, while following current restrictions.
How much is the fee? $500. If we join a league or tournament later in the season we will assess appropriate fees but not before informing our groups.
What do my fees cover? Team apparel, instruction, gym time, insurance, equipment usage and miscellaneous expenses.
Who can register? Anyone as long as there are spots open. Club hopping is strongly discouraged and will result in removal from the program.
What is Club Hopping? Club hopping is playing for more than one club at a time without it being approved by the organization.(Lack of loyalty creates distrust and you will be removed from play and the situation will be reviewed by coaching staff) Also, quitting and joining another club in mid-season is not encouraged.
When will the season start?
The Fall/Winter Basketball season starts in Sept and runs until January.
Spring Basketball starts in Feb and runs until June.
Summer Basketball is from July to August.
How are teams formed? At tryouts, athletes are assessed and selected to appropriate teams by our coaches. Tryouts continue on until teams are full. Teams are formed by coaches.
What can I bring to practice? Athletes are asked to bring a water bottle, basketball shoes, mask, and their own hand sanitizer.
How often will practices be? Each team will have a minimum of 2-3 times per week.
Will we play games? There will be club exhibition games and tournaments.
When does the season end? You can participate with Aviators Basketball Club year round.
Will it be safe?
While there are no guarantees, the Aviators has consistently exceeded AHS recommendations regarding Covid 19 and the recommendations that AHS put forth.
Regular hand sanitizing, physical distancing and masks are non-negotiable requirements when required by AHS.
The Aviators also have volunteers at entrances to ensure that only participants are in the facility. While these measures do not guarantee, Covid won't sneak its way in to our facility, we by far have been the best club in Alberta in regards to player's safety.
Can parents watch in the gym? Only participants, coaches and approved personnel are allowed in the facility at this time.
